Both of our main root traditions, Unitarian and Universalist, have long histories that merged when the denominations merged in 1961.
We have several well-known historical repositories, in the Unitarian Universalist History and Heritage Society and the Harvard Square Library.
Here are a few lesser-know gems that are available, some, online…
The first is the UU Digital Archive led by Jay Kiskel and hosted by Northwest UUC. Jay has drawn from the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta records, 1832-2001, on repository at Candler’s Pitts Library.
Another is the slightly scaled back effort known as UU Sankofa Collection. It started out as a stand-alone web site, but is now hosted by Meadville-Lombard Theological School
For old source materials, The Internet Archive has lots of out-of-copyright books and newsletter for both Unitarians and Universalists.
