Is Unitarian (Universalism) a nationalist religion

By: /u/prescod β€”

Why does each nation define their own principles and values rather than collaborating across imaginary lines on a map and having a global outlook?

Does any other religious tradition grant that level of prinacy to national organizations?

Canadian Unitarians have adopted an 8th principle

By: /u/prescod β€”

It was not on the agenda for the AGM and the website does not yet have easy links. I'll post links when I find them.

It is similar to, but not identical to, the proposed American 8th principle.

International UU and the 7 (8?) principles

By: /u/prescod β€”

My understanding is that the UUA is considering adopting an with principle.

Will the International situation figure into the consideration at all? Australians, New Zealanders and Canadians use the 7 principles. Perhaps they are used elsewhere too.

It makes me sad to think that we may soon have different foundational texts as Protestants and Catholics do. I’m not predicting a 100 Years war, but still, those principles unite us across national borders.
