First, deep gratitude. Your courageous, consistent, and faithful organizing has transformed UU the Vote into a vibrant, distributed movement rooted in justice and collective action. Across the country, you’re resisting authoritarianism and building a multiracial democracy—whether you're marching in the streets, fighting book bans, defending immigrant neighbors, becoming poll workers, or turning out voters in critical local elections. You are the movement.
As we prepare for the next phase of this work and the launch of UU the Vote 2026, I want to share some important updates.
Let’s start with bittersweet news: Our brilliant Democracy Strategist, Nora Rasman, began parental leave in March and has now made the powerful decision to follow her calling to become a full-time doula and focus on school and new motherhood. At the same time, Josie Mitz, who supported the work during Nora’s leave, will soon wrap up her contract and is moving into a new role as Campaigns Manager at PFLAG National. We celebrate their extraordinary contributions to this movement and cheer them on as they step into these new chapters.
And now for the exciting part…
Thanks to Nora and Josie’s leadership and your organizing, we are ready to take UU the Vote 2026 to the next level. We’re not just gearing up for another election. We’re building a bold, faithful campaign that meets this political moment with power, strategy, and spirit.
To do that, we’re hiring not one, but three new roles to lead our expanded vision for UU the Vote 2026. These positions are designed to deepen your capacity and strengthen our collective response to the threats and possibilities ahead.
Here’s what’s coming:
🔸 Voter Contact: Scaling our impact to reach millions of voters, combat suppression, win critical ballot measures, and fortify state and local partnerships.
🔸 Safety & Security (NEW!): Equipping our communities with tools, training, and strategies to stay safe—at the polls, in the streets, and wherever democracy is under threat.
🔸 Community Mobilization (BIGGER & BETTER!): Sparking large-scale actions, building relational power, and creating hubs of democratic activity that last far beyond Election Day.
Spread the word and share these job postings widely. Check out the roles and application processes!
This past year made the stakes clear. It has also demonstrated the power and resilience faith has in this moment. Here are a few things we’ve done together:
Nourishing our spirits and refining our strategies:
The Gathering is a monthly virtual event from Side With Love designed to equip you with the spiritual grounding, political analysis, and collective action we need to rise to the challenges of this moment. Join us every Second Monday of the month at 8pm ET / 5pm PT / 4pm AT / 2pm HST.
Supporting the newly launched TUUCAN (Tennessee Unitarian Universalist Community Action Network) as they hold monthly community gatherings and skill-ups to deepen their organizing capacity—mapping out assets, engaging in shared risk discernment, and uplifting core digital security practices—in service to its mission to support each other and share resources as they work to live our UU values into practice across the state.
Mobilizing with “Claiming Our Power,” which connects UUs across the state of Georgia in a targeted campaign that weaves together the skills and community partnerships that congregations have built in their UU the Vote and UU Climate Justice Revival programs. You can learn more about how a campaign like this can create cross-team collaborations and strategic local wins at The Gathering on Monday, August 11.

Get ready for National Poll Work Recruitment Day!
August 12, 2025
Poll Worker Recruitment Day is a national day of action established by the Election Assistance Commission to recruit new potential poll workers who are committed to ensuring safe, fair, and free elections for all voters. There are no off years for elections—or for poll worker recruitment. Important elections are happening across the country in 2025, and many election administrators are already recruiting poll workers for the 2026 midterms. In every election, election administrators need poll workers to keep polling places open, help their neighbors vote, and ensure every voter has access to the ballot box.
Take Action on Labor Day with MAYDAY STRONG!
The billionaires continue to wage a war on working people, with their cronies in the administration, ICE and law enforcement backing up their attacks. This Labor Day we will continue to stand strong, fighting for public schools over private profits, healthcare over hedge funds, shared prosperity over billionaire-bought politics.
Working people built this nation, and we know how to take care of each other. We won’t back down—we will never stop fighting for our families and the rights and freedoms that ensure access to opportunity and a better life for all Americans. The billionaire's time is up.
On September 1st, we will continue the movement we launched together on May 1st, standing in solidarity with all our communities under attack and fighting for real wins for all our people.
In thousands of communities around the country, we encourage you to take a stand on Labor Day. On the streets, outside the offices of the corporate criminals who are behind the attacks on our freedoms, and at congressional offices. Together, we will demand a world that works for all of us.
OUR DEMANDS TO BUILD THE SOCIETY WE ALL DESERVE:
Stop the billionaire takeover and rampant corruption of the Trump administration.
Protect and defend Medicaid, Social Security, and other programs for working people.
Fully funded schools, healthcare, and housing for all.
Stop the attacks on immigrants, Black, indigenous, trans people, and all our communities.
Invest in people not wars.
Sign up for an action near you! More actions will be added.
One Million Rising: Strategic Non-Cooperation to Fight Authoritarianism
Across the country, authoritarian forces are getting bolder and more dangerous. Trump and his allies are not hiding their agenda: mass deportations, rollbacks of civil rights, weaponized courts, and full-scale attacks on our democracy. We don’t have to wait until it’s too late. We can stop this. But it’ll take all of us—not just on single days of mass action, but through sustained organizing in our communities.
That’s why this summer, we’re launching One Million Rising—a national effort to train one million people in the strategic logic and practice of non-cooperation, as well as the basics of community organizing and campaign design. This is how we build people power that can’t be ignored. You’re invited to join us—and lead.
Let’s build a force bigger than fear and louder than hate. Let’s get ready. Let’s get organized.
