And I'd add for myself that it isn't just the sermon - it's the entire worship service (in the Unitarian Universalist tradition we use readings from a variety of sources + have neither prayerbook nor lectionary, so a LOT of the elements are crafted fresh each week)

I mean, I'm a Unitarian Universalist and this is not part of our culture but my first several Bibles had those ultra thin pages and I was so scared I'd rip one with my pencil! It felt like it would be sacreligious.

I can't believe I haven't been following Unitarian Universalist Massachusetts Action Network on Twitter before now. That is a BIG oops. @UUMassAction is great and please don't feel like you have to be a UU to be part of their activism.

I was raised in the Unitarian Universalist tradition. The difference between the UU adults and my own Orthodox grandparents, whose theology was very informed by the threat of hell, was profound. I wanted to have the open, can-do, dignified manner of the UUs.
