I’ve often seen the work of @BlackLivesUU position as “not really UU” or “against the UUA”. It’s been a curiously persistent and 100% false accusation. BLUU has worked in concert with & in partnership with @UUA - the 1st IRL mtg of BLUU leadership was sponsored by & AT UUA HQ.
It meant a lot for it be given to us by Cheri Taylor who has led the ground game on raising this money & Rev Lauren Smith Dir of Stewardship & giving at @UUA - two incredible Black Women who believe in @BlackLivesUU & our mission.

Last week @Mykal4Lyfe & I accepted the fulfillment of the $5.3 million Promise made by our faith to @BlackLivesUU - this was a moment I won’t forget as a UU, as a Black UU, as a Black UU Organizer. Having my full self on THAT stage was significant FOR ME.
It’s been a bit of a whirlwind since that GA. Building the proverbial plane while also flying it. Last week I fulfilled my last duty as Board Chair of @BlackLivesUU back on the same #UUAGA stage to express our gratitude & resolve at the fulfillment of that idea 3 years ago.

I am stepping down from the @BlackLivesUU board in a few months & my plan is become a member of the @UUA Board of Trustees (I am officially nominated but won’t be 100% until after voting occurs in June) - my willingness to serve the association at this time is specific.
@BlackLivesUU strives to center our spaces in what Black people of faith need & yearn for. A faith space where you can bring your whole self. Where no parts of you need to be quieted. Where the white gaze isn’t the focus. For that we are consistently positioned as “problematic”
