Earlier today, we received a number of comments on the post we made which offered a prayer paired with an unrelated illustration of an individual holding a transgender pride flag with the text βhow has living authentically benefitted you?β This post did not live up to our standards for attribution, or thematic relationship that honors both the author of the quote and the creator of the image. We take responsibility for this error and have removed the post from our social media platforms.
The UUA Communications team would like to share we are initiating a review of our internal policies on the use, attribution and links to the creatorsβ accounts for images and illustrations shared on our social media posts. Our goal is to make sure that our polices meet best practices for respecting the work of artists and creators and to live out our values in our messages. This is especially important for our most marginalized and impacted communities. We will share our policies once they are updated.
Thank you to the commenters who provided feedback. The communityβs feedback helps us to better serve Unitarian Universalism, UU congregations across the country, and all of you. We appreciate your thoughtful efforts to work with Communications staff as we live out our shared values and principles.
