An ethic of love lives at the heart of our UU faith. How are we to live? #SFGLegacy reminds us β€œLet us build with love a solid foundation for the work we do in our families, our faith communities, and our world. May we always enlarge our circle of concern to create inclusive communities of resilience and wholeness, of resistance and courage. May we live the bold, brave, loving theology that lives at the heart of our tradition.”

Religious Educators Lead a Return to Community

UU religious educators are searching for the kind of community events and outreach that will stitch unraveled connections back together and offer families the spiritual support they need to navigate post-shutdown life.

Dayna Edwards, minister of faith formation at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church in Bethesda, MD has found it effective to lean into community events that were canceled or pared down in recent years, like Cedar Lane’s annual holiday craft day.

Correna Ness, director of religious exploration at the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg, PA worked together with congregants to restructure popular events like an annual auction to make them more multigenerational and financially accessible to all.

We are so grateful for all that lay and credentialed religious educators do to guide and serve our Unitarian Universalist communities.

Imagine it's 2050 and we've achieved all of our wildest hopes for climate justice...what does it look like? The abolitionist movement imagines a future without police and prisons, drawing on deep convictions, faith, imagination, and hope to do so. The climate justice movement is diverse, vibrant, and equally hopeful: but do we UUs have a vision of what a just climate future is?

Join Side with Love for this radical gathering of thinkers for abolitionist visions of climate justice. Facilitated by Rachel Myslivy, Rev. Dr. SofΓa Betancourt, Dr. Rashid Shaikh, and Antoinette Scully.

Trans, Nonbinary+ Lives and Democracy are at Risk: UUs Unequivocally Defend Justice

As Unitarian Universalists, we are clear and unequivocal: LGBTQIA+ people are sacred, whole, and divine. We unapologetically welcome LGBTQIA+ people, children and families to our communities.

The recent attacks on transgender people, activists, and their allies in Texas, Montana and across the United States serve as continued evidence of the dangerous escalation by some in political power and their supporters to target transgender and nonbinary+ children and adults. Unitarian Universalists will continue to support and work with the LGBTQIA+ community β€” and siblings within our congregations and the wider world β€” to ensure their fundamental rights are protected.

Lizzo brings drag queens on stage, protesting Tennessee law

In light of all that is happening with the Tennessee legislature, we share a story from April that brings us much hope and joy. In a concert on April 21st in Knoxville, TN, Lizzo filled the stage with drag queens in a glittery protest against the state’s efforts to restrict drag performances in public.

Lizzo believes, β€œWhy would I not come to the people who need to hear this message the most?” β€œWhy would I not create a safe space in Tennessee where we can celebrate drag entertainers and celebrate our differences?”

As Unitarian Universalists, we know we must call out acts of racism and authoritarianism, and we must also uplift those who are actively organizing for justice and equity for all people. We support Lizzo!
