How to stop SPAM

  1. Get a free "trash" e-mail account to use for signing up for web "offers" (i like http://mail.yahoo.com/ best)
  2. Don't put multiple e-mail address in the "To:" or "Cc:" slots of mass e-mails - Learn to use the "Bcc:" feature
  3. Don't put e-mail addresses on web pages unless the address if obfuscated - otherwise, SPAMbots will find the address
  4. Don't ever use an "opt out" or "unsubscribe" feature found in SPAM unless you are absolutely positive the site is reputable
  5. Set your e-mail reader to preview (and delete) e-mail messages without opening them. Occasionally, images are embedded in the message that will signal that you have open the message. Outlook's "AutoPreiew" is OK, the "Preview Pane" is not OK - turn it off!
  6. Never, NEVER, NEVER purchase anything from a SPAMmer!! They send SPAM because it is profitable!!
