Fulton County

In March of 2003, i went to the Fulton County Voter Registration Office and asked for several hundred voter registration forms. I was volunteering with Georgia for Dean and had several events lined up where we would be registering voters.

I was informed that they could give me ONE form, no more. When i protested and told them how i regularly picked up 200 at a time in Lowndes County (Valdosta), they held firm and said they couldn't give me any more than one. As i persisted, they "explained" that they "didn't have storage space."

Finally, i gave up and walked (away from where i was parked) over to the Sloppy Floyd Building (west wing, 11th floor) to the Secretary of State Election Division Office, where they were happy to give me as may as i wanted (i settled for 1000, which we handed out before the end of April). By the time i returned to my van, my parking meter had expired, so i had a $10 parking ticket and a very keen awareness of how heavy 1000 voter registration forms are!!

  Live and learn!
